Suzuki Strings of Dallas offers Suzuki-inspired instruction in violin and viola. Our goal is to provide rich and enjoyable music experiences that will contribute to the development of self-confident, happy children.

Irene works with a student outdoors on a lovely day
Irene Mitchell combines Suzuki and Montessori philosophies in order to teach the ‘whole child’. Her use of Galamian violin technique combined with intuition, “comedia del arte” mime and storytelling inspires the student to become ‘one with the music’, fostering self-confidence, technical mastery and musicality.

Irene was raised in ten countries of Latin America, Europe and Asia.  She came to the United States in 1973, and earned her BM and MME from the University of North Texas. She traveled twice to Japan to study with Dr. Suzuki at the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto.  Irene founded Suzuki Strings of Dallas in 1981, and her Tour Group has been featured with the Fort Worth Symphony and has traveled overseas several times to perform in Puerto Rico and Bermuda.  Irene has served as clinician for over one hundred Suzuki programs throughout the Americas and Europe.
